The Scotland County Board of Commissioners may have finally listened to its constituents. They voted unanimously to terminate all efforts to go into the "dumping" business.
Scotland County Board of Commissioners gathered Monday night, April 5, 2010, for its regular monthly meeting, but comments made during an extended public forum made the evening anything but routine.
A number of Scotland County residents attended the commissioners' meeting to express their concerns regarding the proposed landfill that the board is considering. Scotland resident Eddie Carmichael had called the county manager and asked to speak during the public forum. Carmichael raised the issue of the landfill and said the public's opinion should be heard before the board's decision.
